Business Transition and Succession Planning Workshops
Succession Plan Canada has partnered with a number of Economic Development Organizations to provide local and online training on business transition and succession planning. According to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, 70% of business owners are interested in retiring. Without a proper succession plan, business owners will be forced to divest for pennies on the dollar or close completely. This workshop is recommended for:
Business and farm owners that would like to set up a succession plan.
Industry and community leaders who would like to help clients with their business transition.
Anyone working with their family, employer, or third party on the purchase of a farm or business.
Participants will be able to:
Understand the importance of farm and business transitions in our communities.
Explain the three different types of farm and business transitions.
Outline the necessary steps a business owner or producer needs to take in his or her succession plan.
Identify key succession planning professionals who are relevant to a proper transition.
Understand programs available in the province for farm and business clients that are interested in transitioning or writing their succession planning.
Understand how to design, engage and apply programs for their business or for their clients.
Succession Plan Canada has partnered with SuccessionMatching to develop a workshop that educates and trains economic development professionals and community leaders on Business Transition and Succession Planning for the businesses in their communities. Business Succession is being viewed as the most underutilized business retention strategy in community economic development and the objective is to assist communities in retaining these valuable community assets. Participants in this workshop will have access to ongoing and up-to-date information, resources, and templates on the three types of business transitions: family, employee share ownership programs, and third-party sales.
